Advent Calendar December 2: Mouse Lift

Drew this one while referring to a photo from this amazing book called The Dance, which is a study of folk dance around the world, published originally in 1914. My copy is third printing, from 1935. The dancers have people heads not mice heads in the original photo, which is titled A Lift and is part of a series showing “the Kolo of Servia.”
This book fascinates me for the photography, the clothing, and the fun of seeing what 1914/1935 considered folk and traditional.
Deets are:

Yay, kolo! I still teach the Croatian kolo to my students here in New Zealand. I’m not Croatian, but plenty of people here have Croatian heritage so the tradition is still very much alive. ( this picture is SO CUTE! I love your artwork.)
