Light grey Topo Ranch t-shirt
Dark grey striped boy short underwear
Danskin footed tights in ballet pink
Danskin affiliate link* right here: Womens UltraSoft Microfiber Footed Tight
Sansha Pro 1L split-sole leather ballet slippers

*this is an affiliate link, which means the link goes to the Danskin catalog, and if you make a purchase via this link, I get a commission which I will use to buy lots of cotton candy. Just kidding about the cotton candy part.

Love the drawing. I wore a black unitard with a pull-on Champion exercise short skort. Too bad my feet hurt in my slippers, for which I was fitted by someone with 40 freaking years of experience…..grrrrrrr.

Too bad we’re still shut down for summer because what I WANT to wear is my new lavender RAD leo. Thanks to doing an exam which dictates being in just leo and tights, I’ve gotten over the fright of not wearing shorts or a skirt over it. Still feel I need them on some days, but I’m in a very supportive group of gals so it doesn’t bother me around them.
I also want to try out my new Bloch Pro Elastic, which were either too narrow and tight, or now one size up too lose (going to try shrinking them in the wash….. ;)

    • Does RAD regulate the style of leotard as well as the color for each level? Or can you wear any style as long as it’s the right shade of lavender?
Go you, rocking the leo and tights only.

    Black cropped leggings
    pinched-front blue camisole
    Black shrug :)
    – Love having options to wear what you’re in the mood for…is it a chiffon skirt kind of day, or knit shorts…hmmm

    • Totally, and I hate when you get to class and suddenly you’re not in a chiffon skirt mood after all and you have Wardrobe Regrets.

So true! And it’s for that exact reason that for my Friday class (like today!) I bring two options with me to work so I can see how I feel by the end of the day…and if I truly have a last minute change of heart, whoop slip that skirt off and throw on the boy shorts while sliding into the barre ;)

Can I also say, Adult Beginner, your blog is such a treasure. I don’t have many people outside of class who can relate to the ups and downs of ballet. I love reading your posts which are so well written and humorous. I find such inspiration and encouragement here and I’m so happy to have discovered your blog. Thanks for sharing your fabulous “tales from ballet” and for allowing all the other Adult Beginners out there to share as well :) We come together with joy, and tights!!

Oh, what a fun question! I wish I could draw myself. I wore a black cami leo, pink convertible tights rolled up, Sansha split sole slippers and a cute little striped knit skirt that I got from FAB dance wear (big splurge but SO worth it). Plus regulation ballet bun even though its not required for open division but I swear makes me dance better.

  6. Rebecca says:

My class is strictly non-leo but, like the bun, the more ‘ballet’ I dress the better I dance, so I wear black leggings and camisole.
For barre and warmup I like the tunic look you see in pre-1960s ballet books – pretty AND butt-covering – so I wore a black jersey mini-dress over the top.
    Love the sketch.

  7. I’m going back to class tonight for the first time in over 2 months. I crashed my car and didn’t get my butt in gear to figure out public transportation till now and all the streets I would have to take are too scary for my bicycle skills. So anyway, I’m wearing a black high-necked leotard and nude/tan tights (both Capezio), a black chiffon skirt, and pink Bloch canvas split-soles. Oh, and I’m going to actually pull my hair back into a ponytail-stub with a barrette and lots of pins to hold the strays, which is a first for class because I’m 8 months post-pixie.
