Happy Thanksgiving, Fatties!

No ballet class tomorrow.
Because we will be busy eating All The Foods.
End of class, Smirnoff reminds us that the Saturday class is still on.
And then he shoots all of us weeknight girls a Very Stern Look and says, “Ladies, I think it would be very wise of you to come Saturday and make up that missing class.”

Happy Thanksgiving! We unfortunately don’t have this holiday in Germany…

    • Well, if you ever want to try Thanksgiving out, there are two distinct methods:
Method 1 is the method I grew up with: You’re not allowed to eat all day. You are constantly assaulted by yummy smells from the oven and the sight of butter and sour cream being mashed into, like, everything, but also constantly being told to get out of the kitchen. It’s too hot indoors and too cold outdoors. By the time the meal is ready you are starving, cranky, and unable to carry on a conversation. Also, you are wearing stretchy pants in preparation for eating yourself silly. You feel a challenge has been presented, you must eat as much as possible. You finish the evening passed out on the couch in front of a tv playing an endless boring parade.
Then there’s Method 2, the method endorsed by me and Mr. Adult Beginner. You eat your normal breakfast, normal lunch, wear something nice- I’m a fan of the little bias slip dress with tights and a cardigan- invite friends over, cook things, eat little nibbly foods and drink sparkling wine together all afternoon, and then have the meal together without feeling obliged to stuff yourself, and make toasts, maybe about what you are thankful for, and later have some more sparkling wine and play Apples to Apples all night.

Happy Thanksgiving, AB! I am living outside of the US so there is no official holiday, but I’ve taken today and Friday as vacation days so my partner and I can make and eat All The Foods whilst watching Packers vs. Lions in true Turkey Day tradition. :) Then there is class later in the evening, so I must time my indulgence carefully….
