Pas de bourre saves the day. Hooray!

So, in Smirnoff’s class, pas de bourre is always part of the barre routine.
Pas de bourre is one of those steps that is kind enough to have the same amount of syllables as steps, so you can kind of sing out pah-day-boooo-Ray! in your head while you pas de bourre.
Same with balánce, you can sing out bah-lawn-say! in your head while you balánce.
During that week of classes I took in NYC we would get to the center work part of the class, and we’d have a series of things to do, like maybe a series of five things, and I would start out correctly, and then do the second third and fourth thing wrong, and be totally on the wrong foot doing the wrong thing, which is typical and no great disappointment for me at this point in my ballet education, but then! Then amazingly, the last thing in the set would be a pas de bourre and suddenly I would be on the right track again, my feet would just be in the right place, doing the right thing, on their own, and I would somehow end the series on the correct foot with everyone else.
It was kind of mind blowing.
