Sock Tutorial—Extremely Difficult—Unless You Have A BFA In Costume Tech This Tutorial Might Explode Your Brain

1. Get that pair of tights with the run in them. You know the pair I’m talking about.
2. Cut them. Use scissors, not your teeth.
3. Put them in your pointe bag.
4. Wear when you are getting all rebellious, like “Screw tights. I’mma wear leggings to pointe class”, but when in reality your feet still want tights.
P.S. Even better if they’re not convertible. But it’s not like you can control which tights get laddered, so if they are convertible, fine.
P.P.S. They must be long enough to tuck under the hem of your leggings, otherwise they will roll down and you will look totes ridiculous.

Thanks for the hint about the scissors. I might have used my teeth.

We are not allowed to switch out tights for leggings but I love this idea I would feel much more comfortable wearing leggings to class.

Pretty solid idea for point class, although I always seem to develop an over-attachment to ripped tights and hang on to them for months after they should be toast.

    • I know what you mean, the only reason this pair was even available for sockifying was because I’d hung onto it for much longer than I should have. And it worked out for the better this time! Woo!

I darned the runs in a couple pairs of tights because I seem to have become v. thrifty about tights, somehow. This idea is excellent—hate bare feet in shoes.

    • I now regret all the tights I’ve had to get rid of over the years, including the bright color ones. That acid green pair would’ve been excellent with pink pointes and black leggings.
      Darning is excellent too.

Brilliant! I am always loathe to part with a good old standby pair of tights that I’ve gotten used to but cannot mend any longer. This is a great “reuse” idea! I love leggings, BTW…I could live in black leggings and cute shorts/skirts. :)
